Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Accelerator gets stuck open. I took my foot off the gas and the vehicle accelerated. It would rev at high speeds when I stepped on the brake. I tried downshifting with no effect. When I finally stopped at a stoplight with both feet on the brakes the engine revved up to very high rpms, even when I put the vehicle in park. Then it finally stalled out.”

NHTSA complaint #11277582, filed 2019-11, 165,000 miles

“Steering wheel started vibrating on reaching the speed of 60 MPH. It was more prominent while driving straight while it was not as much while negotiating the bends. However, no vibration was felt at slower speeds. I have got both front and rear rotors and break pads changed recently, all wheels have been balanced and alignment done. I wonder if the manufacturer would take care to identify the cause and recommend remedy.”

NHTSA complaint #10767420, filed 2015-09, 131,828 miles

“When entering my garage, the car automatically accelerated crashing through the back wall of the garage. I applied the brake but they didn't appear to work as the car was accelerating too fast. The car finally came a stop in the backyard against a fence post that was in concrete.”

NHTSA complaint #10596111, filed 2014-06, 48,863 miles

“I was pulling into a parking spot at a high school. I backed up and then put the car in drive, and it took off on me (sudden acceleration) with my tires squealing hitting the car in front of me and knocking that car out of park. That car rolled across the parking lot and went through a fence, and came within inches of hitting the school.”

NHTSA complaint #10321540, filed 2010-03, 21,000 miles

“After repeated calls to Toyota dealer about acceleration problems with only we'll call you when parts come in vehicle accelerated and crashed through a metal gate causing significant damage to gate and car. Auto was tolled to collision center for evaluation. After calling Toyota I was told to give problem to insurance carrier”
