“After bringing the car to get brakes checked, we were informed that the struts needed to be replaced on the car. This car is only driven on paved roads, in a well maintained area. The car has slightly less than 48000 miles on it. Struts should last much longer on a car when the driven in the environment we live in.”

NHTSA complaint #10643098, filed 2014-10, 48,000 miles

“Vehicle pulls hard to the left no matter what speed or lane you are in. Have visited the local Toyota dealership numerous times and all they do is switch the tires around. Vehicle has had 4 front end alignments and none have corrected the issue. Vehicle now has 80,000 miles on it and I am on my 5th set of tires due to the wear in them.”

NHTSA complaint #10475275, filed 2012-09, 1,000 miles

“I was slowly backing out of my driveway when I heard a loud bang come from underneath the car on the left front. As I drove the car to my mechanic I heard a clanging noise coming from the left front. My mechanic told me that the spring around the strut had broken. I had the spring strut replaced at a cost of $350. I am the original owner and the car has 64,000 miles with all work performed at the Toyota dealership, except my last set of michelin tires.”

NHTSA complaint #10980490, filed 2017-04, 64,000 miles

“I am writing about the prevalent problem of leaking struts or shocks on the 2009 Toyota Camry. I took my car in for an oil change at 47,000 miles and was told that one of my struts is leaking, and it will cost approximately $339 to fix it. I have noticed that several complaints have bee lodged about this situation.”

NHTSA complaint #10408579, filed 2011-06, 47,000 miles

“Struts of my new car are leaking!!!..Toyota Camry 2009. Toyota says that they are leaking..but they are not leaking enough..to be replaced!!....the fact is they shouldn't be leaking at all at 18,000 miles!!...I heard a lot of people complaining about the struts in the 2009 Camry and Toyota one more time..is denying the problem...”
