“This description is in reference to a continuing mechanical error that has affected my 1998 Toyota Camry le and the terrible way my situation has been dealt with by Toyota customer service. To summarize, after a routine check of my engine oil level on october 28th, 2004, I discovered that the bottom 1- inches of the engine oil dip stick had broken off. The piece was nowhere to be found and I immediately became concerned as to its whereabouts. …”

NHTSA complaint #10165572, filed 2006-08, 40,000 miles

“Dt: the consumer was attempting to brake when he realized that something was obstructing the pedal. He managed to release the obstruction and pulled over to see what it was . It appeared to be a piece of the air duct which somehow came loose. The consumer took the part to the dealer so they could determine what it was and where it came from. The dealer determined that the part wasn't vital to the operation of the vehicle therefore the consumer didn't have it replaced/fixed. The consumer has the part in his possession.”

NHTSA complaint #10127455, filed 2005-08, 74,798 miles

“I have been tring to have a tether strap anchor installed in my Camry for my child's restraint which requires such tether. Initially, I contacted the local Toyota dealership and the service person on the phone said he wouldn't install it, because the local hospital, shands, had yelled at him for improper installations on prior car restraints. When I asked the same service man if he could read the car manual to determine which parts would be necessary, he said it made no sense to him. …”

“S10 appropriate handling-letter from regarding unintended acceleration problems the consumer wanted to comment about the sudden acceleration problem. Updated 04/12/12”

NHTSA complaint #10346608, filed 2010-08

“I have attempted to install the eddie bauer eb adj booster car seat (model 22880-mtta) in 3 different cars and it simply will not tighten into place. It's as if the shape of the car seat is at a 90 degree angle and thus will not fit into the seat of the car. If the base sits flat on the seat of the car, the head sits straight up, leaning forward from the seat of the car about 6 inches. Tightening it with a belt does no good because it continues to wobble back and forth several inches from front to back or even from side to side. …”
