“My auto mechanic and I, after extensive diagnosis, have confirmed that the Pulse mileage/route tracking device that Metromile car insurance had me plug into the computer port of my 1998 Toyota Corolla LE is failing or has failed, and this caused a potentially disastrous situation to develop w/my car engine. When starting the engine from cold, it would cause repeated misfires, causing the rpms to drop quickly, then surge up, before settling into the proper cold idle speed. This would repeat itself every few seconds until the engine warmed up completely (usually about 10 minutes). …”
NHTSA complaint #11437379, filed 2021-10“I own a 1998 Toyota Corolla. 3 or 4 years ago I threw away my driver side floor mat because I had problems with it sliding under gas pedal and the pedal would then stick. As of now I have no floor mat and that has resolved the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10306407, filed 2010-02“The contact owns a 1998 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that all four tires and valve stems failed over the course of one month. The dealer stated that the valve stems failed, which inevitably caused the tires to flatten and fail. All four tires and valve stems were replaced. The contact has a copy of the invoices and is in the process of notifying the manufacturer in reference to NHTSA campaign id number 08t018000 (tires:valve). He does not know the information pertaining to the equipment. The VIN, serial number, and part number were unknown. …”
NHTSA complaint #10234223, filed 2008-07, 62,977 miles“Vehicle out of alignment and bushings lubrication because they were causing a squeaking noise after lube the vehicle is still making the sqeaking noise.”
