“Traveling on a local hwy and a vehicle, two cars in front, made a sudden left turn causing the vehicle in front of me to lock down their brakes thus causing me to stop abruptly. My braking system locked my wheels down causing me to slide into the car in front of me at 35 MPH. Upon impact, my airbags did not deploy and my seatbelt did not keep me from hitting the windshield causing injuries to my head, neck and body injuries from hitting the steering wheel. I am also pregnant. Wellness followups are being conducted. …”
NHTSA complaint #10252093, filed 2008-12, 92,000 miles“Toyota Corolla 2000 gives false seat belt warning. Seat belt warning blinks eventhough seat belt is secured. False warning (in all the safety regulations that I have studied) is just as bad since trust can not be relied on.”
NHTSA complaint #10381207, filed 2011-02, 86,000 miles“The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that the vehicle's seat belt failed to latch and restrain the driver. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10679741, filed 2015-01, 135,000 miles“The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Corolla. During a crash at 15 MPH, the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts malfunctioned. A police report was filed. Due to the lack of restraint by the seat belt, the contact severely injured her ribs and had to be hospitalized for two days. The contact called the sales dealer and they were not cooperative. The current and failure mileages were 70,000. Updated 04/28/08.”
NHTSA complaint #10223157, filed 2008-04, 70,000 miles“When driving 20 MPH and upon depressing brake pedal to make a normal stop vehicle continued to accelerate which caused a rear end collision. Vehicle caught on fire due to battery leaking. Also, passenger's side seat belt did not lock which forced the passenger into the windshield. Vehicle was a total loss. Please provide any further details.”
