“The driver side rear seatbelt latch is switched with the center passenger belt, and the only receiver that will latch the belts is the one in the position of the center passenger. The other receivers simply do not latch. Although the mileage on the vehicle we have never had more than 1 person in the rear seat and they always sat behind the driver. I have not contacted the dealer, but will very soon.”
NHTSA complaint #10524748, filed 2013-07, 53,123 miles“Seat belt will lock before I have it buckled. It will not unlock. It happens at least once a day. I have brought it to the dealership twice; once when it was locked. The service man acknowledges there is a problem with the seatbelts as other mechanics have reported it as well but he is not going to do anything to fix it.”
NHTSA complaint #10316206, filed 2010-03, 4 miles“Takata recall the recall on my airbags is not complete, and the remedy is not yet available in a timely manner for my safety in the event of me possibly getting into an accident and getting seriously injured or even die because of the defect in my airbags inflating and causing metal objects to fly out and hurt me and/ or my passengers. Also, my seat belts don't stay in place to hold me or my passenger back in the possible event of an accident, to cause us less harm if any was to occur.”
NHTSA complaint #11020617, filed 2017-08“The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while inspecting the rear seat, the contact noticed that the center seat belt buckle and driver side seat buckle were interchanged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician verified the failure and replaced the buckle. However, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10641974, filed 2014-10, 58,000 miles“The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that on may 30, 2010, the rear seat belt became inoperable, choking a passenger due to the latch system. The contact called the dealership and the dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle in for inspection. The current and failure mileages were approximately 20,000.”
