“2009 Corolla is drifting left and right on the highway. Some vibration. Recently had new tires and wheel alignment and still very unstable, feels like driving a boat and can move left or right at any time. It has electronic power steering not hydrologic. I'm the second owner of this vehicle and have the maintenance records. The alternator was replaced twice on car which is unusual. Any recall of the electrical rack and pinion for this vehicle? My mechanic did not know how to fix besides replacing the whole rack and pinion system.”

NHTSA complaint #11317746, filed 2020-03, 135,540 miles

“This vehicle has had the water pump go out the brakes the alternator has had problems with the emergency brakes the air bag has had the struts replaced the gas lever stopped working and now the trunk release won't work I have replaced now 5 tires because one blow right after I got the car and now my car has just 85 thousand miles on it. I have heard so many good things about Toyota but this is the worst car I have ever own I will never buy or advise anyone to buy a Toyota again.”

NHTSA complaint #10616049, filed 2014-07, 8,500 miles

“Notice the steering wheel sometimes pulses only when my cell phone is (docked) near docked to the right of the steering wheel. It's strange I can sometimes tell if my black berry is going to ring or get an email. The steering wheel seems to shake or try to steer on its own. This is similar to my other 2009 Toyota Corolla that I resold to the dealer. I wonder if more shielding is needed to reduce any interference.”

NHTSA complaint #10306519, filed 2010-02, 6,000 miles

“This did not cause an accident, but my 2009 Toyota Corolla suddenly pulled to the left when I was on the highway. I noticed from day one that the car is hard to keep straight at highway speeds, to a point to where it is very frustrating, but when it pulled suddenly it became frightening.”

NHTSA complaint #10272695, filed 2009-06, 200 miles

“While driving on expressway/roads the vehicle will make a surprise pull to the left or right. One thing to note when turning the corner the steering will not recover straight. The car is less then a week old. Notice the problem on my first trip on the interstate. I took it back for 2 days and they find nothing wrong but scotty said it's normal for this new type of steering. You must keep both hands on wheel at highway speeds.”
