“The next day I drove the 2006 Toyota Corolla down the street and the steering wheel shook extremely badly. I took the car back to precision Toyota and asked them if it was out of alignment. The mechanics explained the Toyota Corolla vehicles cannot be aligned and to go on my merry way. I then continued driving the Toyota Corolla and made several visits to brake masters and goodyear tire in phoenix az trying to figure out why the steering wheel shook so badly. Brake masters and goodyear tire failed to diagnose the problem with the vehicle. …”
NHTSA complaint #10320824, filed 2010-03, 10 miles“While driving on the ne extension on my way to my sisters house, my steering wheel began to shaky and pull to the left. I grabbed hold of the steering wheel to try to put us back in the lane but it didn't want to go. Eventually I was able to jerk the steering wheel to the right and we then spun out into two 360 degree turns before landing in a ditch on the side of the road. I then noticed that both of my rear tires had problems as well, and these tires were just recently put on by team Toyota on thursday october 30th 2008.”
NHTSA complaint #10248305, filed 2008-11, 60,000 miles“Was driving down an decline in the road and was applying the brake gently due to stop light at the oncoming intersection, which I saw that was red, but it changed to green and I reapplied the gas at this time. Then , I heard a great loud noise and this thing was in my face, and I could not see . I knew that I needed to get the car off the road, but I was fighting the airbag to see the road and to prevent me from hitting a car in front, I used my right hand to fight the airbag and my left to steer the car. …”
NHTSA complaint #10193499, filed 2007-06, 48,000 miles“This about a tire called riken raptor's. I now have had this happen twice where the top part of the tire comes off the side walls, it happened in august as well. The tires were perfectly fine as far as air goes as I maintain my car. But for a 2nd one to have happened to me tells me there is a problem and I would hope someone would look into this. I found a thread via goggle that had many of the exact same issue on these tires. Michilen is the mfg of them and they just tell people its a case of to little air. How would they know 1st of all and I do know it was inflated correctly. …”
NHTSA complaint #10296810, filed 2009-12, 93,000 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Corolla. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection. The Toyota dealer stated that the tread on the two front goodyear tires was worn. Other than the tires, everything else on the vehicle was normal. The tires were replaced at dobbs tire company. The DOT number was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 17,000.”
