“Multiple times my car has slid on the pavement upon an abrupt stop. Deer in my travel routes are abundant. But on june 2, 2020 I heard a noise as I was driving. It appeared to be a suspension problem. I pulled over and inspected the car. The tire having over half it's tread threw a belt or had a huge bulge in the tire. It went from a noise to a load grumbling sound and a lot of vibration very quickly. The sliding was ongoing and I assumed because the car was small and light but never had this sliding effect from multiple other small cares I've owned. Then the tire bulge. …”

“The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Corolla. While driving 25 MPH, the front driver's side tire and rim completely separated from the vehicle. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it spun out of control. The rim was made of aluminum alloy and one of the spokes failed, which caused a chain reaction with the rest of the spokes. As a result, the tire collapsed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but they stated that they did not want to be responsible without even looking at the vehicle. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. …”

NHTSA complaint #10278578, filed 2009-07, 22,695 miles

“The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Corolla. While driving 40 MPH, he heard a winding sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The dealer replaced the tires; however, the failure continued to occur. Approximately four weeks later while driving 65 MPH, the contact heard a winding sound. The dealer stated that the wheels caused the inner walls of the tires to disintegrate. In addition, they stated that the failure would be continuous because the tires and wheels were aftermarket and they refused to repair as part of the warranty. The failure mileage was 250 and current mileage was 3,828.”
