Example complaints

Brakes: “Steel brake line running from the front to the rear of the vehicle along the driver's side frame rail rusted through near the front of the vehicle. Lost all braking, narrowly avoided a collision by swerving around a stopped vehicle and driving through an intersection where the traffic light turned red. This is the second steel hydraulic line that has rusted though on this vehicle. The first was the power steering cooler line.”

NHTSA complaint #10471436, filed 2012-08, 119,556 miles

Fuel system: “Fuel tank fracture and leak. A crack in the stamped steel of the upper half of the fuel tank where three faces are bent. Cracks have developed in the originally installed tank, and two subsequent, dealer-supplied fuel tanks over the past 6 months. The leak is sufficient to allow significant dripping/draining of fuel when the tank is full, including puddling underneath the vehicle. Due to the location of the crack, the fuel spills onto the driveshaft (directly opposite the muffler), as well as wicking fuel down the parking break cable towards the back. …”
