Example complaints

Engine cooling: “Truck's gauge went in the red zone hot, I immediately pulled over and towed it to hansel Toyota. I was then informed that it may be under the recall issue. Alot of 1995 Toyota p/u were recalled same year, make and model along with the v6 engine size. When the service rep. Punched in my truck's VIN#, I was told that it was not in the recall series of VIN #'s. But it seems odd that the same year, make, model and v6 engine size was recalled for the same problem that I'm having in my truck and my VIN # wasn't recalled. I have had the water pump and the thermostat was replace by hansel Toyota. …”

NHTSA complaint #716308, filed 1999-12

Transmission and drivetrain: “Toyota rear differential housing cover rust through until leaking. A non replaceable cover on the differential is made of such thin metal that it has rusted out and is leaking.”

NHTSA complaint #10276242, filed 2009-07, 113,000 miles

Steering: “Luckily I was going very slow into a parking spot....if this had happened going down I-95 traveling 70+ I wouldn't be here right now. Take care, john c. Groth hi chris, the latest recall reminded me of something. Even though my Toyota is a 1995...my drag link snapped in dec 02. The fwd message is one I replied to a friend of mine. And the Toyota dealership is not yours....it was one in fayetteville, nc when I was living there while in the air force. …”

NHTSA complaint #10121765, filed 2005-06, 148,000 miles

Fuel system: “Drove truck to work. Upon parking noticed gasoline pouring out from under vehicle. Had truck towed to dealer where I was informed that the component going into the gas tank had rusted through. This truck has had very limited exposure to salt here in tennessee. I bought the truck new. Also I recently had to replace both the front rotors due to rusting. I feel this presents a real safety hazard and that Toyota should use better materials in their gas lines.”
