1993: “When painting the truck we found that the frame was actually split and rotted through from under the cab to the back. I tried welding in a plate to keep it from breaking but it seems like all bed mounts and frame are rotting very rapidly. I cannot drive it due to the frame and Toyota claims the recall is over.”

NHTSA complaint #10836777, filed 2016-02, 90,000 miles

1994: “Rear frame rotted from inside out on 1994 Toyota Pickup. Called Toyota and they stated the recall only went back to 1995. Just put new brakes, new clutch, new engine, etc into vehicle. Wish I knew the frame was rotted prior to doing all that. I am hoping Toyota will extend the recall back a year as it is clear it is the same problem as those involved in the buy back.”

NHTSA complaint #10366603, filed 2010-11, 180,078 miles

2001: “I've experienced ongoing issues with the crc application for the Toyota tundra frame rust issue since it was originally applied. The first application failed after 1 day of use. The second application failed less than a year later. The third application, applied oct. 14 2013 has now failed. On october 15 Toyota informed me they would not honor the 12 month warranty as described on the paperwork from the service department for any future issues with regards to the frame rust or their workmanship. …”
