“While applying the brake at the stop light. (25 to30 mile speed limit zone) The Toyota hybrid sienna start to accelerate for split 5 or more seconds. I have to apply the brake harder even though I was already applying the brake to slow down because the light was red and the are several cars in front of me. For the first time I was scared thinking about rear ending some one in front of me or the Toyota Lexus incident where it accelerated and everyone died flashing through my mind. It was not a good feeling.”
NHTSA complaint #11739982, filed 2026-05“I was at a complete stop. There were no obstacles around me or oncoming. When I pressed the accelerator nothing happened for a full 3 seconds, until my vehicle jolted forward at an excessive speed. Brakes were not working.”
NHTSA complaint #11592492, filed 2024-06“Stepping on brakes - Car slows then accelerates a few seconds and lunges forward a couple of feet. Extreme safety issue. This occurred yesterday with my sister in the car and we almost rear ended the vehicle stopped in front of us. I have complained to the Cumberland Toyota dealership in the past and was told if they cant recreate the issue and it doesn't happen all the time there is no way to fix the issue. Yesterday I was almost in an accident because of this faulty design/anomaly associated with my car. …”
NHTSA complaint #11738078, filed 2026-05“When I open the Entertainment in my seinna car it's completely blocking the rearview mirror and this is family car and I have a kids they are using the screen all the time.”
NHTSA complaint #11633663, filed 2025-01“While driving on highway, on 3/11/26, car powered down. I had to coast to side of highway. I was able to turn vehicle on after several minutes, but SEVERAL system malfunction error messages (hybrid, accelerator, pre-collision, tpms, airbag, engine…) appeared. The vehicle would not accelerate beyond 10mph. Once I moved it to a safe location, I had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The dealership technician was able to replicate the issue during test drive. The technician apparently had the vehicle towed back to the dealership last night. …”
