“when the rear entertainment system screen is down it mostly obstructs the rear view. It is reckless that toyota doesn't require the digital rear view to ensure driver can see out the back of their vehicle. I do not feel safe in my brand new car, and I don't even have the option to add the digital rear view mirror after the fact. I'm very upset.”
NHTSA complaint #11549349, filed 2023-10“My sunroof EXPLODED on 5/31/24 at 1:30 pm. I was driving about 55mph. There was no car in front of me or at my sides, and I was passing a rural grassy area. I did not see anyone or anything. It appears that the glass broke outwards. Fortunately, because it was 85-90 degrees, I had closed the shade about an hour earlier.”
NHTSA complaint #11591840, filed 2024-05“No system is failed in our sienna. Only safety problem we have is the rear view mirror completely block off when kid use the entertainment system. When I talk to the deanship, they told me they can't add any rear view camera due to the electrical harness problem. Not sure if anything can be done, please let me know what you guys think.”
NHTSA complaint #11503015, filed 2023-01“-Car loss power for few seconds turning out from parking lot with an oncoming semi. Could have gotten smash. -Right sliding door randomly not fully closed. Dealer cannot repro neither issues and told me that they are charging $99 diagnose fee next time I bring the car in for the same reason. They did a 1x goodwill diagnose. Absolutely unacceptable for a car that is under warranty with 22k miles on it.”
NHTSA complaint #11596890, filed 2024-06“While driving on the freeway with my small children in the backseat a loud pop sounded and glass from the moon roof came shattering down upon us. The glass hit my face, arms, hair, and fell into my seat and all around the interior of the car. Though glass fell along my face my vision was not obstructed and I was able to safely exit the freeway without accident. The glass, though did make its way towards the backseats, did not hit my children. There was no warning or issues with the car or window.”
