“I bought 4 michelin tires (p205/70r 15 x rad) for my minivan in june 2006. This month the steering wheel of my car started to shake violently at low speed. I brought my car to dealer. I was told that the two belts inside of the tires separated. I was recommended to replace these tires. These tires have a 80,000 mile warranty, but they only run less than 40,000 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #10302233, filed 2010-01, 100,500 miles

“While driving, my spare tire fell from underneath my car due to the fact that the cables snapped. The car behind me ran over it and I am now being charged for the damages to that person's car.”

NHTSA complaint #10663491, filed 2014-12, 305,000 miles

“On 11/25/2012 at about 10:00 pm, after driving on freeway for about 100 miles, the front wheel on driver side began to make a small noise and small vibration and later the tire warning light came on. I stopped by at a rest area and didn?t see any noticeable problem. Since it?s about 50 miles away from home, I decided to keep driving it and the noise and vibration continued. I checked the tire the next day and found it flattened. I fixed it with a tire repair plug, pump it and I found a bubble about 4-inch in diameter. …”

NHTSA complaint #10487774, filed 2012-12, 19,000 miles

“The tires showed signs of excessive wear every 15000 to 20000 miles. Dealer had front and rear suspension aligned. The tires were rotated, but excessive wear still occurred. The dealer admitted something was wrong with the alignment. The first set of tires was replaced at 17k miles, 2nd 39k miles. In any event, the car continued to pull to the left despite the alignment and rotation.”

NHTSA complaint #10044963, filed 2003-12, 15,000 miles

“I had a flat tire and replaced the flat with a different manufacturer than the other 3 tires. Because there is 1/16th difference in the tire depth the warning light will not stay out even after resetting it. Toyota says that as long as the tires are different the light will not stay out. I say I'm not the only one to ever have a flat tire and replace it with a different manufacturer's tire and there needs to be an adjustment made in the sensor. I didn't ask for this feature; it came with the car. …”
