“Multiple problems with my 2000 Toyota Sienna xle, first the car had problems with battery drain and not starting, they replaced the radio amplifier twice before fixing it, the power window on the driver side broke at 35,000 miles. The back hatch sheetmetal is all dented just from closing it and pushing on the handle. The worst one is that the van has been blowing a lot of blue smoke and burning oil, 4 quarts in the last 750 miles. So far no help from the dealer.”
NHTSA complaint #10048931, filed 2003-12, 35,000 miles“Fluid leak around the transmission pan gasket. Repaired 3 times by 2 different Toyota dealers. Easy job but maybe it is a deeper problem? Transmission did not shift when cold for about 2 miles after the first and second time it was fixed. After the third time trying to stop the oil leak, they adjusted the throttle cable and now it seems to shift more normally in cold mornings. Since new, the left sliding manual door was hard to open from the inside. After 2 trips for adjustments the door is opening correctly.”
NHTSA complaint #10016386, filed 2003-04, 19,400 miles“The vehicle was only provided with a hole in the frame for a tether strap on the left center isle seat, the dealer refuses to drill a hole in the frame so the hardware can be installed for another strap for her other child. Nlm”
NHTSA complaint #560013, filed 2001-03“Whenever the air conditioner is turned on vehicle would stall out. Took vehicle to dealer & informed by mechanic to not use air conditioner. The compressor went out & needed replacing. This was what probably caused the vehicle to stall out.”
NHTSA complaint #852145, filed 1999-10“The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle is equipped with a thule hitching post pro 935x2. The contact received a recall notification and attempted to call the 1-800 number on several occasions. She has been unsuccessful because the telephone number provided in the notice is disconnected. The purchase date and part, serial, and recall numbers were unknown. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 90,000.”
