“My airbag light came on, and hasn't turned off for longer than a minute in the past couple of months. Brought it to repair shop, was told airbag won't work with light on. I was told it was most likely the clock spring. Noticed on multiple forums people have the same complaint. Not sure if I want to replace it with a genuine Toyota part if this is going to happen again in a few years.”

NHTSA complaint #10551241, filed 2013-11, 100,000 miles

“Takata recall, it has been about a year, maybe more, since I got the first flyer to have my air bag replaced. I have got more over the months. Every time, I call in and try to arrange an appointment I am told that they are going out in waves and that I will be notified when I can get this potentially lethal air bag replaced. Then more time goes by I get another flyer and the same thing over and over again, with no resolution. I find it a bit unsettling that that process would take this long and leave customers stuck with potentially deadly vehicles.”

NHTSA complaint #11056925, filed 2017-12, 105,000 miles

“I was involved in an accident on april 4, 2014 at approx 2130. My Toyota yaris hit a pole at about 35-40 MPH. And the airbags did not deploy. This was a straight on hit. !....updated 07/31/14”

NHTSA complaint #10578791, filed 2014-04, 35,000 miles

“On 12/19/2009 I was in a car accident on the northern state parkway I hit the guard rail cement divider at 40 miles an hour. My air bags did not deploy. My ABS brakes failed to stop the car in a snow storm. My seat belt did not work correctly. Again with the same car on 10/7/2010 a woman stopped short and completely stopped in front of me. I slammed directly head on into her while at 30 miles an hour. Again my air bags did not deploy and my seatbelt failed to retract. Again attempting to brake I went into the SUV.”

NHTSA complaint #10365187, filed 2010-11, 32,000 miles

“Takata recall thankfully, no incident yet. Received interim recall notice in may 2016, stating they would send another notice when the remedy had been prepared. Six months later, it has not. Conveniently, Toyota absolves themselves of responsibility by stating: until the remedy becomes available, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat. …”
