“Recently brought 2007 Vespa GTS 250 with 550 miles had it for about 2 weeks, used it about 3 times around the block and fuel pump failed ... Not so cool had to push back home... Looking online I see a few people with similar problem....I thing its about $200 for a new pump will Vespa cover it ?”
NHTSA complaint #10445129, filed 2012-01, 550 miles“Fuel pump fails repeatedly on Vespa gts250. It has caused me to almost get killed on highway 288 south of houston when it failed on an incline and I had multiple vehicles behind me and beside me on the freeway. Worse... It is a known issue among Vespa owners and yet the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10356136, filed 2010-09, 2,903 miles“Fuel pump stops pumping, and scooter dies. Then you just wait and wait until the pump finally spins up again, then hope it will pump long enough to get you home. It is a roll of the dice, if it will run or not run at any given time. There is a recall (15v066000) on the 2008 and up models. Mine is a 07 and is doing the same thing that the others were recalled for. I don't want to get killed on this when it stops while you are in traffic.”
NHTSA complaint #10732800, filed 2015-07, 5,600 miles“2007 Vespa gts 250ie, 4,316 miles. Engine shutoff while riding, 6 times since bought brand new in 2007. Almost got into accident, because engine shut off and slows down dramatically while car driver were driving behind going at 60 MPH. Replaced sparkplug, didn't fix the problem. Used fuel cleaner addictive, didn't fix problem. Suspected fuel pump issue. Engine also shut itself off while on idle.”
