“This model Volvo uses a switchblade key, and due to a defect in the key, it does not lock in the extended position when the key is opened. The large plastic key handle dangles down below the ignition when driving. On more than one occasion, the driver's knee bumped the key fob and turned off the car while in motion. This has happened on the highway as well as local road. Both keys that were provided with the car are affected the same way. This is exceedingly dangerous in what is otherwise a very safe car.”

NHTSA complaint #11375302, filed 2020-11

“Slowly driving on a road in neighborhood and was signaling to make a left turn and all of a sudden the signal light stopped and the whole car just shut down. No electrical or auto operating at all. Automobile totally stalled and would not start. Car was entering an intersection necessitating me getting out and pushing the auto back behind the stop sign. Auto would not start again and had to be towed. My regular repair person tried to get it operating but could not and was again towed to a Volvo dealer who took 4 days to fix. …”
