“A national distributor of replacement automobile parts provided the incorrect size front brake rotors for a 2005 Volvo xc-90. A owens cross road, al auto repair shop that installed these front brake rotors blamed the national distributor's catalog error for smaller (approximately 0.50 inch) front brake rotors which are sold as an exact replacement for the original Volvo rotors. The front brake pads actually exceeded the front rotors outer diameter and should have been obvious to any responsible auto mechanic. …”
NHTSA complaint #10403529, filed 2011-05, 106,550 miles“The contact owns a 2005 Volvo XC90. The contact noticed that the space between the accelerator and brake pedals was only 4 1/2 inches wide. The width of his foot is 5 inches wide. There is an insufficient amount of space to adequately apply pressure to the accelerator pedal without also depressing the brake pedal. The dealer stated that they were aware of the failure, but have not made any efforts to correct the design. The VIN was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 54,000.”
