“While I was traveling out of town my 2006 Bmw 325I had a major locking failure. I could not unlock the doors of the car except for the drivers side door. This to me is a safety hazard because all other doors where not operable, thus no one could safely get out of the car if we had been in an accident, the safety unlock would not have worked.”
NHTSA complaint #10244022, filed 2008-09, 31,400 miles“The door locks will not unlock with the remote. The doors cannot be opened from the inside. Only the drivers door can be unlocked using a the spare key. This is a safety hazard if there were to be an accident, I would be stuck in my car. There would be no way for the doors to be opened in case of an emergency. This is a very common problem with this make. Its attributed to a faulty design.”
NHTSA complaint #10294611, filed 2009-12, 24,000 miles“While my wife was driving, suddenly the front and back doors were locked and not able to open both with manually as well as remotely. Just one driver's passenger door was opened to get out. Access to just one door. My wife who is pregnant had a horrible time in getting out of the car due to this issue and she had to go to emergency as she had difficulty in getting out of the car due to this issue. This is really a safety issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10427684, filed 2011-09, 50,100 miles“My door lock actuator failed in the garage and I have not been able to open the doors either from outside or inside. It would have been dangerous if this had happened when the vehicle was occupied and there was an accident.”
NHTSA complaint #10523593, filed 2013-07, 56,000 miles“The door locks will not unlock with the vehicle's remote. The doors cannot be opened from the inside. The driver door can be unlocked using a manual key but all 3 other doors remained locked due to the fact they are controlled by the remote. The doors cannot be unlocked by depressing the button to unlock the doors. If my son and I were in a wreck and the driver side damaged we would not be able to get out of the car.”
