2008: “Abs failed with no warnings, total loss of braking power. I beleive this was a significant failiure. Happend on my brothers bike as well 2 months later. Less then 30k miles and just past 3 years... Happened during ride on freeway on first use of brake. I had to pay to replace. Bmw claimed it is not significant and not a problem.”

2004: “The oe part is made of plastic and according to internet search they are prone to breaking with age. Mine began spilling fuel on the hot engine. I have ordered a metal replacement! This could be a serious problem since gasoline was also sprayed on my leg and boot and any ignition source could have set me and the cycle on fire.”

NHTSA complaint #10463946, filed 2012-07, 10,153 miles

2007: “This motorcycle has repeatedly stalled as I decelerate to a stop. The day of this report it stalled 5 times. The dealer has not been able to determine why this happens after several inspections by the dealer. The motorcycle restarts immediately but it is a safety issue since braking and traffic flow problems are created by this stalling. This issue has been recurring for the year I have owned this vehicle.”
