“My 2009 Bmw k1300gt motorcycle stalls while slowing with the clutch pulled in. Many other owners of Bmw k1300 series motorcycles are having the same stalling issues and other stalling issues and Bmw is not addressing this issue. My motorcycle stalled while crossing an intersection which of course is very dangerous. Owners are pleading with Bmw to recall this dangerous problem and they are doing nothing. We please ask that you to take action with Bmw on this ongoing matter.”

NHTSA complaint #10290505, filed 2009-11, 2,100 miles

“For a few weeks prior to the incident, I could smell fuel when I parked the bike. There were no visible leaks. I planned to take it to the dealership to be looked at, whenever the next opportunity presented itself. On tuesday april 29, 2014, I rode 17 miles to work. The bike ran well and there was no evidence of trouble. It rained while I was working and 10 hours later when I came out of my work place the bike was wet. I toweled the seat dry and set off for home. The rear tire lost traction at low acceleration but I dismissed it to cold tires and wet pavement. …”

NHTSA complaint #10585587, filed 2014-04, 29,617 miles

“Stalls when clutch is engaged and engine should come to idle. The typical situation is when preparing to stop for an intersection or other road condition that would call for the engine to be temporarily disengaged from the transmission. This happens on every ride. The dealer service department opined they all do that .”

NHTSA complaint #10983006, filed 2017-05, 64,000 miles

“Engine stalls and / or loses power in hot weather. I have had numerous stalling episodes with this bike. It will stall after being in steady cruise for 30 minutes at 4000 RPM. It also stalls repeatedly in very hot weather (95-100 degrees) and will not restart(sitting stationary at a traffic light when trying to start off after light changes). If it does restart in these conditions, it doesn't respond to throttle opening and will only rev to 2000-3000 RPM and will bog down if throttle is opened further. …”

NHTSA complaint #11337528, filed 2020-07, 31,100 miles

“I own a 2009 Bmw k1300gt motorcycle. The motorcycle engine will stall when the clutch disengages power from the engine. This is a known problem to the manufacturer and well-documented by Bmw motorcycle dealer service shops. However, the manufacturer has yet to implement a permanent fix. This is a serious safety concern, as unexpected loss of power can lead to loss of control of the vehicle.”
