“When the car has sat outside and the cold the steering is very loose causing the car to be unresponsive to turning. The driver assist is almost no. Functional turns on and off on its own. Shutting down the blind spot awareness as well as front collision auto braking”

NHTSA complaint #11184976, filed 2019-03, 200 miles

“Intermittently and without explanation the vehicle cannot be started using normal procedure even though the key fob is on the driver's person. Since the vehicle was purchased new in april 2019, the dealership has had five opportunities to address this problem without success. I have been instructed that should the vehicle fail to start normally, retrieve the fob; lock and unlock the vehicle using the key fob and then start the vehicle using the fob which (dealership language here) has been awakened. …”

NHTSA complaint #11281479, filed 2019-11, 100 miles

“Vehicle has had the main driver gauges/dash cluster randomly turn off with no warning while driving, multiple times a day now for the last several months, with instances happening at all sorts of speeds and on local roads and highways. There appears to be no way to recover the electronic dash cluster until the vehicle is left to fully shut off for a few minutes and then restarted. Bmw service as well as bmwna have attempted to assist in 8+ service visits and have not been able to rectify what's a clear safety hazard, as it has LED to multiple near accidents now. …”

NHTSA complaint #11403206, filed 2021-03, 1,500 miles

“The starter on my BMW failed, and it overheated and damaged my alternator to the point that I needed to replace it. The dealer and independent service center confirmed that this was the cause, but BMW is refusing to reimburse the cost of the alternator replacement. I was at the exit of a highway and could not even put the car in neutral, so my safety was significantly at risk.”

NHTSA complaint #11730444, filed 2026-04

“I bought the car from the dealership, and they said there were no problems with it, but they cheated me. The car broke down twice. The first time, it was parked in a private lot for several hours, and I paid a large sum for parking. The second time, it broke down on the street, and I waited eight hours for help to tow it back to the dealership. 1-recall message 2- emergency call system”
