“On my 2006 Buick Lacrosse, at about 48k miles there was a loud clicking noise from under the hood.....luckily I was still under warranty because it was a cracked flywheel (flex plate)......I go on my happy way and about 10 months later I have the same problem....and since I am over the mileage portion of the part warranty, GM refused to cover it 100%......ok, I realize its technically out of warranty, but there is nothing that I can do to that car to cause the flywheel to crack...something is making this happen and GM refuses to refund me. I spent hours and hours on the phone with GM....”

This also happens when stopping at red lights and trying to accelerate or when accelerating when on a hill or incline. I've have gotten several different answers about what this could be but nothing definitive. Was told make a transmission issue, or something to do with the 4th clutch piston and friction plates. Also when driving car is able to be moved into different gears, gear box should not move when car has already been placed into the appropriate gear (p, r, d, 3, 2, 1). …”

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the lug nuts and the control arm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred.
