“When turning slowly into parking spaces the breaks go out and do not work causing the car to either hit or run up the curbing. This happens often enough that we are becoming scared to drive car. We have taken it to multiple dealers and they say they cannot fixt the issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11154340, filed 2018-11, 120,000 miles

“My back center brake light no longer works and since this was pointed out to me earlier this month, I have noticed at least four other CTS cars with the same issue. They range from my year ('06) to at least 2009. And when quoted a price ($600+!) I balked at having it replaced. Anyone else notice this or have this issue?”

NHTSA complaint #10745208, filed 2015-07, 97,000 miles

“The brakes fail especially when turning right. I have taken it to two mechanics and they tell me they cannot fix it. I've talked with the dealer and they were not helpful. So I am now stuck with a vehicle I cannot repair, sell or drive. I understand there is a class action suit against GM. I don t know if it would be helpful but I would like to be included. I need the car daily and cannot rely on it since it is a continual problem. Can you help?”

NHTSA complaint #11118845, filed 2018-08, 24,000 miles

“Coming of the turnpike this morning and when I tried to stop my car it kept going I had to put my car in park so that the car could come to a stop. This has not been my first time dealing with this problem when turning into a parking space my car does the same thing. I have took my car to the dealer and they found nothing wrong with the car.”

NHTSA complaint #10361711, filed 2010-10, 78,200 miles

“I have read numerous complaints for the same issue I am reporting on the internet on various websites. The dealership mechanics can't determine the issues and something has to be done! The first time I experienced the problem I was slowly (less than 5mph) turning the steering wheel in the right direction into a parking space and the vehicle would not stop, it jumped the sidewalk, but stopped before hitting the building. …”
