Example complaints

Steering: “My power steering has a tendency to fail during operation of the vehicle. I have had my power steering cease to function, and become extremely difficult to control the vehicle at speed. Luckily I was on the highway, and able to safely maneuver the vehicle to the side of the highway. I shut the vehicle off and turned it on to see if the power steering would return. On average it takes about 5 cycles for it to return to normal. In the last 6 months, I've had my steering cease functioning about 5 times. The first two times didn't concern me as much because I thought it was random. …”

Air bags: “The airbag warning light activated and two separate service facilities confirmed the problem was with the seatbelt tensioner cable. This could put the driver at risk of serious injury in a collision as the seatbelt may not properly restrain the driver. This car has a recall for model years 2014-2016 for this exact issue, yet GM tells me that there is no recall on my 2017 vehicle with the same exact problem and that I must pay over $1100 to fix the issue. This is a very low volume vehicle. I have the same problem the recall was issued for. How can this not be covered by the recall?”

NHTSA complaint #11641420, filed 2025-02

Other or unknown: “The interior trim is a shiny chrome on the navigation and shifter surrounds. On sunny days the sunlight is reflected off this trim into the driver's eyes. Even sunglasses don't negate this..imagine someone with a mirror reflecting the sun into your eyes. This is dangerous when driving and likely will cause a crash, injury or death. This is not a single type occurance..it occurs nearly every sunny day.”

NHTSA complaint #10984269, filed 2017-05, 330 miles

Seat belts: “The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet City Express. The contact stated that while making a right turn, there was an abnormal gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The seat belt warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and was not driving properly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that on another occasion, the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired under recall; however, the vehicle sat for 24 hours unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. …”
