“The ABS and parking brake signal comes on the dash and will remain on for 2 to 3 days. The brakes also lock up and make a horrible sound. I'm not able to push the brake peddle down because it gets harder to push and it agitates. I have owned my Colorado for 6 years and it happens quite frequently. This concerns me because my 16 year old daughter drives my truck often.”

NHTSA complaint #10583730, filed 2014-04, 70,000 miles

“The ABS brakes fault will occur on occasions. This has been happening for over a month. It appears out of no where. The brakes became soft and noisy. I can pull over and shut the truck off, wait a few minutes then restart and the problem self corrects. This is happening more often now. I am getting a little scared this may happen when I need the brakes.”

NHTSA complaint #10549920, filed 2013-10, 62,000 miles

“I have had numerous braking problems sine the third year of ownership. Abs light and stopping problems to many to mention! Was told by dealership after $500.00 that calipers were frozen from rust! Also I have been getting ABS failures also. Please have GM make this dangerous situation right. Does someone need to die before action is taken?”

NHTSA complaint #10450687, filed 2012-03, 86,000 miles

“Problem with my chevy Colorado. There is a grinding sound every time I brake. It even does it when I go five miles an hour. It does it every time that I take a turn in the streets even if I do not use the brakes. This fault in the ABS system worries me a lot, because I think it's a serious safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10454372, filed 2012-04, 36,800 miles

“Abs braking system. When it is sandy, wet, slippery out I go to apply my brakes it makes a errn noise and the truck does not stop for 8-10 ft after that I have been in 3 minor fender benders. I have brought this to the dealer 3 times to look at it and they tell me that this is how it works(not stopping ? ) is there a place I can go to get this checked out.”
