“There is an electrical issue that causes the truck to completely shut down and lose all power sometimes while driving with do warning. When this happens, power steering and power brakes are lost. This happened to me while turning into a gas station and I nearly wrecked into another vehicle as I couldn't stop or turn.”

NHTSA complaint #11349053, filed 2020-08, 170,000 miles

“Approaching an intersection and observed a yellow light. I was traveling 35mph as posted and applied the brakes only to have the pedal go all the way down to the fire wall. The truck had no braking power and only slowed to about 15mpg after applying for roughly 40-50 yards. I ended up running into the intersection collided with another vehicle that proceeded on green.”

NHTSA complaint #10873361, filed 2016-06, 8,000 miles

“After driving 10 miles, I parked my vehicle in my apartment parking lot. Approximately 15 minutes later, I got back in my vehicle to leave. Upon turning on my vehicle, I felt my brakes hard when I put my vehicle in reverse. The vehicle started rolling back with my foot still on the brake and I had to press on the brakes extremely hard to stop the vehicle from moving. The vehicle struggled to stop, skid and then stopped. I put the vehicle in drive and it did the same thing. …”

NHTSA complaint #11298617, filed 2020-01, 51,000 miles

“I took my Colorado in to dealership due to engine stalling, this is a very dangerous safety issue, I lose steering and braking ability when the engine stalls. The dealership said they are aware of the problem but they do not have an answer on how to fix this issue. The dealership informed me they have 4 other Colorado's doing the exact same thing. Also there are thousands of complaints on the internet of this exact same defect. I ask Chevrolet to buy back my Colorado due to it is not safe to drive.”

NHTSA complaint #11052421, filed 2017-12, 6,300 miles

“The transmission (6spd automatic w/v6 engine) of this vehicle is known to have issues that will surprise you if you aren't already aware of them. The issue affecting safety the most, is the occasional engine acceleration while applying the brakes as the transmission downshifts to a lower gear. It causes the car to actually accelerate momentarily as you apply the brake even harder to arrest the increased speed. I was driving up a slight incline at about 35-40 MPH when all of a sudden the car in front of me came to a complete stop because the car in front of her had stopped completely. …”
