“When using the cruise control on my 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, particularly when going downhill, the cruise control does not hold the set speed. Setting the cruise control at 55 MPH and then going downhill, the vehicle will accelerate up to 64 or 65 MPH. Obviously, to obey traffic laws, the brakes are applied and disengages the cruise control. However, when the cruise control is set at 65 MPH, and goes down hill, the speed will only increase to only 67-68 MPH. I have tried setting the cruise control at 55 MPH on various roads going downhill, and the results are consistent. …”

NHTSA complaint #11040372, filed 2017-10, 15,000 miles“The high mounted stop lights and the cruise control do not work. A recall for this was issued (NHTSA 06V13900 and NHTSA 09V310000) but when I enter my VIN it says I'm not included in the recall. Also, a dealer said my vehicle was not in the recall. If I have the problem stated in the recall why am I not included? I am the original owner. First noticed problem about six months ago. Did not know about the recall until yesterday.”
NHTSA complaint #11671995, filed 2025-07“The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving approximately 35 MPH, the brake lights did not illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. She was informed by another driver of the vehicle that the cruise control had also malfunctioned. She believed that the brake light failure was related to recalls 06v139000 and 09v310000 (exterior lighting brake lights switch) and recall. The vehicle was being repaired by the dealer when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were 40,351.”
