“I was rear-ended (hit & run) & my 2000 Corvette was pushed into the rear of another car. My car was totaled, both air bags did not deploy. I need to find out why the air bags did not deploy. I was injured & was taken to emergency for care & treatment. I have had all known recalls done, well maintained car, & have kept all records of recalls, repairs, etc.”
NHTSA complaint #10125675, filed 2005-06, 55,000 miles“My son purchased this car in may 2012 and wrecked it in june 2012 while driving to work in the rain. The air bags did not deploy despite his hitting a lamp post and a tree. He was not injured and no other cars were involved. We always wondered why the air bags did not deploy but didn't pursue that because we were just glad no one got hurt. My son never quite understood how the wreck happened and now that we have learned of problems with air bags not deploying in some GM cars, we wonder if there might be a problem that should be investigated with regard to corvettes as well. …”
NHTSA complaint #10574879, filed 2014-03, 46,000 miles“Consumer was traveling 75 MPH on the highway and the steering wheel locked up. Consumer was unable to maintain control of the vehicle, and it crashed into guard rail and flipped three times, landing in a ditch. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy. Driver sustained head and neck injuries, and was transported to a hospital. Vehicle was towed and totaled.”
