2005 Chevrolet Corvette Air bags Problems

“About every day while driving my Corvette. The service active handling light will come. And my brakes will start jerking. Also the air bag light keeps coming on and going off the whole time I drive it. I have seen many other people having the same problems with there 05 corvettes. Something needs done about this. Gm needs to step up and recall for these problems before someone really gets hurt.. Please help.”

“Air bag light goes on -- dealer tries to fix (at considerable expense) and said fix lasts for maybe a month or two. I have given up spending for this temporary fix -- I use my 3 point seat belt every time and hope it is good enough.... This problem is well known in the Corvette community and to GM, and has been for a long time. Gm simply refuses to come up with an appropriate fix for this and it is a dangerous situation.”

“Since shortly after the car was new, I have had repeated problems with the airbag malfunction indicator lighting up. I have taken the car to various authorized dealers numerous times to have the problem repaired. In all cases, the problem seems to get corrected but then reappears anywhere from several weeks to several months later. It's my understanding that when the airbag malfunction indicator is illuminated the airbag system is non-functional.”

“I bought a new 2005 Corvette 4/5/2005. Since new the check air bag light goes off and on. This is a serious problem that most of the 215,000 c6 owners experience. I am a member of the Corvette forum and it is discussed often. Many dealers across the us claim they have never heard of the problem. In my case it started shortly after I purchased the c6. Every time I took it to the dealer they told me to return when the light was on. That was almost impossible because it goes off and on. Sometimes a week or more goes by and it's okay. …”

“The air bag light came on a few weeks after I bought the car and will not go off. Car had approximately 2,300 miles on it at the time. It is a solid light that is always on as long as the car is on. I took it to a dealership (crane Chevrolet) and they said they will not honor the warranty that I purchased for $2000 from the gray Chevrolet dealership in pennsylvania (also where I bought the car). Gray told me the warranty is good at any GM dealership in the country. I am going to call another local Chevrolet dealership and see what they can do.”
