“My brother suggested I report that the engine in my car's front pulley comes loose and falls off causing loss of electrical production, A/C, and worst of all power steering--its a Corvette-dont know if it happens a lot to others also but maybe you want to look into it-seems to be a dangerous situation.”

NHTSA complaint #10165357, filed 2006-08, 13,900 miles

“Potential loss of coolant, engine overheat, loss of visibility- inspecting under the hood during oil change, I found the coolant air bleed hose rubbing through on the bottom corner of the mass air flow sensor. I twisted hose away and placed a plastic conduit over the hose in this area. This is the small hose (8mm id)left of the throttle body leading forward to the coolant lines leading to the surge tank. Hose will be replaced soon.”

NHTSA complaint #10168455, filed 2006-09, 20,419 miles

“After about 2.5 years the convertible top mechanism started getting noisy and then refused to close all the way. The dealer repaired it under warranty with a new electric motor and a pump repair kit. About a year later the exact same thing happened but the dealer refused to repair it under the original warranty saying that it was a different problem. This time he replaced all the hydraulic hoses on the left side and charged me about $900.00. I feel that the problem wasn't properly repaired the first time.”

NHTSA complaint #10265464, filed 2009-04, 29,137 miles

“Complaint received via e-mail. My 3 day old Corvette shredded its serpentine belt, overheated, and lost its steering. Car had 300 miles on it. From what I have been reading on 'Corvette forum this was not an isolated incident but has been occurring in too many new corvettes. This problem could affect the operation of the vehicle as it not only affected the cooling system but more importantly the steering and braking. To make matters worse the repair of this problem was failing on many cars, and they were experiencing it for the second and third time. .”

NHTSA complaint #10101798, filed 2004-11, 300 miles

“Squeaking noise from engine accessory drive belts, clunking/ knocking noise at lower front of engine. The crank shift blancer split apart moving back to the engine. Damage to the timing chain cover and oil pan causing oil to leak.”
