“Transmission shift cable end disintegrated, causing shift cable end to detach from floor shifter, causing inability to place car in park, increasing vehicle to roll away and crash.”
NHTSA complaint #11360661, filed 2020-09, 20,620 miles“Automatic transmission shift lever cannot be shifted from its park position upon starting the engine and trying to drive away. Applying the brake pedal in order to disengage from park position of shifter still won't allow lever to be moved from park . The electrical circuit can't be completed to allow disengagement of shifter. This happens perhaps one out of every six or seven times you wish to drive the car. One must sit and make several attempts over several minutes to free the shifter. Very embarassing if you are in a line of cars at a gas station or fast-food take-out line. …”
NHTSA complaint #11110667, filed 2018-07, 24,800 miles“After an oil change at a Chevrolet dealer I drove to get gas. After refueling I got in and was preparing to drive away when I noticed the clutch pedal was on the floor and would not pop back up ready to be used. I had the car towed to the Chevrolet dealer where I learned the hydraulic clutch master cylinder had failed. I was lucky this didn’t happen while o was driving the car on the highway. I am not sure how that would have affected the drivability of the vehicle but it could have been very dangerous. …”
