“am writing again regarding serious safety concerns with my Chevrolet Equinox EV RS. This is my fourth attempt to contact Chevrolet, as my previous emails have not received a response. These issues present a significant safety risk and require immediate attention. The problems I am experiencing include: Unintended lane movement: The vehicle shifts into another lane without any steering input from me. …”

NHTSA complaint #11722179, filed 2026-03

“Steering feels slightly loose and keeps drifting to the left. When I have people in the backseat and I take off from a stop, the vehicle swerves to the left. Hoping the dealership will do an alignment when I take it in.”

NHTSA complaint #11662936, filed 2025-05

“There is a button on the top of the steering wheel that puts the car in low gear. We have been going down the interstate twice and my husband accidentally hit the button slowing down the car immediately. This is very dangerous and could cause a rear end collision. We have reported it to Chevrolet several times, to the service department twice and the corporation also. Low gear has normally been on the gear shift with all the other gears, but for some reason, they put it on the top left side of the steering wheel. …”

NHTSA complaint #11700530, filed 2025-11

“The lower plastic trim/bezel piece at the base of the steering wheel repeatedly detaches from the steering wheel while the vehicle is in use. It has come loose [and fallen off] on multiple occasions. The component is still in my possession and is available for inspection upon request. I believe the retaining fastener securing this trim piece was overtightened during manufacturing, which stripped or damaged the mounting boss/threads in the plastic so that the part can no longer be held securely. Reinstalling the piece does not resolve the issue; it works loose again during normal driving. …”

NHTSA complaint #11750129, filed 2026-07

“Car acclerated and steering pulled right, which pulled me off the road doing damage to steering gear and linkage, wheels, front suspension, exhaust system and slight body damage. Could be defect in car causing safety issue. With dealer, GM is involved but have been unable to determine why it happened. Insurance involved to cover damage. no warning lamps or failures appeared.”
