Example complaints

Brakes: “The contact owns a 1992 Chevrolet G20. The contact stated that the brakes failed and caused the contact to crash into the rear of another vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a mechanic and was told that the support for the brake line was rusted and the pressure caused the brake line to rupture. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileages were 171,000. Updated 09/27/11 updated 2/23/12”

NHTSA complaint #10419985, filed 2011-08, 171,000 miles

Transmission and drivetrain: “The consumer has been experiencing problems with automatic transmission. Vehicle bounces and sways side to side during any speed. In addition the seat belts aren't long enough to secure their driver. Also, the fuses in the electrical system started failing.”

NHTSA complaint #830442, filed 1998-11

Fuel system: “We have had an ongoing problem with the fuel filler neck on this vehicle. When you fill the vehicle up with fuel, once it is almost full, the gasoline tank belches (for lack of a better term) and fuel is expelled from the tank all over the person filling the vehicle (unless you stand appx. 2' away from the gas pump nozzle). We have talked to owner's of similar vehicles (this is a full size chevy conversion van) and all of them have the same problem. This is a very dangerous problem. …”
