“The driver's seat has not been working properly for several months. The seat will not stay locked in place and this has created a dangerous situation, especially in intersections, when the truck has been in motion. Now that this has happened several times, I've been especially careful & prepared to move the seat back forward so I can again reach the pedals. My solution for the time being - placing a wooden 2x4 piece behind the seat so it will stay fixed. It's working, but it is very inconvenient getting into or out of the seat. Will try to repair or take to a shop if a recall is not mandated.”

NHTSA complaint #11102222, filed 2018-06, 108,000 miles

“I have a 2000 chevy zr2. Both seat latches used to recline seats have broken off. I complained to a local dealership and the cost for the repair was quoted as $250 per seat. This is the third s-10 I have owned and am disappointed in the cheat metal used and the repair cost. The plastic third door handle also broke which was a $75.00 repair. My seats will have to stay broken.”

NHTSA complaint #10039642, filed 2003-09, 63,000 miles

“The reclining mechignition on both seat are made of very cheap metal, and both have snapped off at the seat itself. Also you can be driving down the road and the seat will slide back after releasing itself from the locked position. And the third door handle is plastic and breaks when trying to open it in the cold weather.”

NHTSA complaint #10005047, filed 2003-01, 30,000 miles

“The front passenger manual seat would not stay adjusted. Intermittently the seat would come loose, and cause the seat to move back and forth while driving. Vehicle had been to the dealer on three separate occasions, and they could not locate the cause of the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10113348, filed 2005-04, 21 miles

“Chevrolet S10- #1 both seat reclining latches have broken off (cheap pot metal used in latch). Dealer laughed saying that he has had many reports about this but it is not a manufacturer's defect , but it will cost us $70 for each mechanism plus hundreds of dollars in labor cost. I have noted many other complaints on your website regarding this. #2 third door latch broken, also noted other complaints on your website about this.”
