“Sometime between backing into my parking spot at work, then backing into a parking spot at the dentist, My Tailgate released/lowered. When I backed in at the dentist, my back up camera seemed to malfunction, so I just used my mirrors. Apparently, the camera was just pointing at the ground. Sine you can't see your tailgate in the mirrors; I could not see that it hit the retaining wall at the back of the space.”
NHTSA complaint #11693604, filed 2025-10“When all the brake settings are set to factory and I back out of my vehicle onto the main road in front of my driveway the vehicle will occasionally detect something and lock the vehicle in park with emergency brake engaged. I then have to put the vehicle in drive all this while oncoming traffic may or may not be oncoming. The brake engagement happens if the corn in the field is blowing the right way or shadows from the tress. I had this into the dealer and also contacted the manufacture. …”
NHTSA complaint #11637600, filed 2025-01“a week ago I was backing up and this truck is supposed to be equipped with a REAR CROSS TRAFFIC BRAKINGF – When in Reverse, the system warns of detected cross-traffic approaching in either direction and provides alerts and hard emergency braking to help reduce the severity or help avoid collisions at very low speeds , I backed into another vehicle that was parked behind me. I did not receive any warnings and the automatic braking did not activate. I was fortunate that I was going slow and only damaged the other drivers door and my tailgate and bumper.”
NHTSA complaint #11753743, filed 2026-07“The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the Auto START/STOP feature malfunctioned, and the vehicle turned off at the stop light while attempting to accelerate. During the failure, the instrument cluster shut off and displayed a black screen. Additionally, on one occasion while reversing, the back over prevention camera screen switched to a black screen, and the vehicle shut off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. …”
NHTSA complaint #11643876, filed 2025-02, 18,000 miles“The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the back-over prevention screen was displaying only two-thirds of the image of the rear of the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that it was a common failure after a recent software update issued by the manufacturer. The VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that if the failure could not be duplicated, a proper diagnostic test could not be performed. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.”
