“I was driving on the interstate when suddenly the traction stability control system lit up and the vehicle wouldn't go past 35mph. I took it to a gmc dealership who identified that the throttle position sensor cover needed to be replaced as well as reprogramming the ECM. This could be highly dangerous especially while on an interstate traveling 60-65 MPH and then suddenly lose power and not being able to go faster than 35.”

NHTSA complaint #10701787, filed 2015-03, 102,742 miles

“Two years ago my stabilitrak failure warning came up. The engine wouldn't go over 20 MPH. The battery was replaced and the issue corrected. This week it happened again. While driving, the stabilitrak warning came up and car power/ acceleration went down to almost nothing. Chevy is saying they *think* my cam shaft lifter failed and it's almost $7,000 to fix. This seems to be an ongoing problem in the chevy/gmc cara of this manufacturing time. It's dangerous and someone will get killed.”

NHTSA complaint #10808128, filed 2015-12, 140,000 miles

“2010 5.3l engine consumes oil at an excessive rate. The lack of a low oil warning has caused the engine to be run without oil for excessive periods of time. Engine issues include stalling and inability to start vehicle until diagnosed by mechanic as being void of oil. Oil consumption has been as high as 100% within a six month period after completing a certified oil change by ase professionals.”

NHTSA complaint #11362335, filed 2020-10, 155,000 miles

“Service lights came on - stabilitrak service needed. Engine light came on. Car went into reduced power mode. Engine started to sputter . Took car in for service at GM dealer. They need to replace the throttle body and sensor. This problem is reported all over the internet with GM trucks and SUV's. Obviously there is a manufacturers defect. Gm is not covering the problem or fixing it at their cost. $600.00 to fix.”

NHTSA complaint #10563224, filed 2014-02, 33,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban. When the vehicle was started, the vehicle and the garage filled up with dark gray smoke without warning. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle failed an oil consumption test due to an oil consumption leak. The dealer stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not worth the repair costs. The manufacturer offered the contact a deal to purchase a new vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. …”
