“I was driving on the ih-93 nb at 55 MPH. Suddenly the car began pulling to the right. I stopped and checked the tires, but did not see any problems. All four tires were inflated to the specs (35 PSI). I kept driving, and after 20-25 miles I heard a sound as if something was rubbing in the front passenger fender area. I began slowing down and wanted to stop. At that moment my front right tire separated. It was a primewell valera ht 235/75-15 tire, installed at a firestone shop in plaistow, nh in november, 2014 with a few hundred miles on it.”

“I purchased 4 goodyear wrangler rt/s p245/75r16 three years ago.they now have approx. 35000 miles on them.today I noticed cracks on all 4 tires about an inch from the rim around the entire tires,on both sides. Their is no dought to me that this ia a factory defect and should be replaced at no cost to me..”

NHTSA complaint #10082592, filed 2004-07, 105,000 miles

“The second tire in four weeks had a tread seperation. The first was found at sears automotive when I took vehicle back due to tire vibration. They pro-rated the tire and replaced it. Four weeks later, another tire seperated at 70 MPH on the interstate causing some body damage to the left rear of the vehicle. I now have a third tire vibrating at 35 MPH and at 70 MPH. This cannot be safe. I am meticulous about maintaining my tire pressrue at the manuf. Suggested pressure.”

NHTSA complaint #10051310, filed 2003-12, 113,093 miles

“Initially experienced tread seperation during annual check in oct 99. Replaced tire and put trailer in storage. In july when taking the trailer out of storage, the new tire tread just peeled off. I towed the unit to the trailer dealer, rv traders, for correction. The dealer upon further inspection noted that the remaing oem tires (3), with approx 10,000 miles, were also starting to seperate. I was about to go on vacation, so had to install (4) new tires (goodyear). …”

“Consumer was driving approximately 65 MPH when the tires tread came off. B.f. Goodrich, radial, long trail t/a, p245/75r16. They replaced tire with a spare tire. About 10 miles down the road the same thing happened with the spare tire.”
