“I have a 2017 Traverse, bought it with just a few thousand miles on it back in 2017. I started having problems the day after I bought it. The car would die almost every day. Finally got that issue fixed. A few months later the washer fluid stopped working. I took it in to have it looked at and they said it had a hole in it. I had it replaced. A few months later my engine starts making a really loud noise when accelerating and my steering wheel would get so tight when I turned it, that I couldn't turn. …”
NHTSA complaint #11277415, filed 2019-10, 20,000 miles“I was driving down the road when suddenly I could not turn my wheel and then the car completely shutoff while in motion. I was on a city street.going straight. I was able to put on my hazards and then restarted the car. The dealership ran diagnostic tests and test drove it and could not replicate the problem and found nothing the matter with it. The car was purchased new and has less than 40,000 miles on it. This is a major safety hazard. Thankfully no one was driving right behind me or I would have been hit.”
NHTSA complaint #11083498, filed 2018-04, 38,000 miles“Noticed a loud noise coming from the engine area when I accelerated and turned the steering wheel. This happened in the city and on the highway. I took it to two mechanics who both diagnosed it with a leak in the power steering pump. They said there is a hole. This car is less than two years old and this is not normal. Also, my car continues to die when not in motion. Although my car says the battery is charged, when I go to start my car it won't start. I always make sure nothing is left on in her car. It started doing this two weeks after I bought it and it has continued since nice then. …”
NHTSA complaint #11151902, filed 2018-11, 42,000 miles“While driving my 2017 Chevrolet Traverse at interstate speeds, the vehicle, without warning, shut down. When I say shut down, I mean shut off completely. This was a complete loss of all power to the car. The engine shut off, the lights (internal and external) shut off, there was no power steering, the brakes where difficult to push down, etc. As I am now coasting down the interstate with no power to the car I put it in neutral and turned on my flashers. With no power steering and brakes that are stiff, I somehow was able to slowly force the car to the side of the interstate and get it to stop. …”
NHTSA complaint #11044408, filed 2017-11, 15,000 miles“Engine idle down coming off expressway power steering was hard to turn ran off the road. Drove car the rest of the way home steering was still hard to turn in either direction, check power steering fluid and found it to be ok”
