NHTSA complaint #11183956, filed 2019-03, 8,000 miles

“I was driving and all of a sudden the car started making a loud whining noise and seemed to be downshifting and lurching by itself. It was not shifting properly and it seemed to be doing stuff by itself. I did not have control over what it was doing. I had to pull off the highway and called triple a and the car had to be towed. It was repaired and now 2 weeks later it again downshifted by itself out of the blue and started whining again. It has not been driven since.”

“Last night my electronic throttle control (etc) light came on. I made it home just fine and the light was only on for a few secs. This morning I turned the corner on a street my car wouldn't go over 20 MPH. The etc light came on and stayed on. I was able to make it back home. I've been doing research and this seems to be a popular (not popular) problem. My car has approx. 78,000 miles. It has not been taken to the dealer yet.”
