“After starting my car before work in the morning, the drivers steering column/dash area burst into flames that were bright blue/white in color and unable to extinguish. The fire department report stated an electrical fire in the drivers dash area or steering column. This fire engulfed my entire car very quickly, and nearly burnt down my house! The car was in my driveway about 6 feet from my home. As it was burning, I heard the engine keep restarting itself as if something was going on with the ignition cylinder or system. It was stationary. Please help!”
NHTSA complaint #10823851, filed 2016-02, 115,000 miles“Several weeks ago, I noticed a 1/2 vertical slice in the passenger side crash pad coincidental to the left edge of the airbag. I could feel the airbag cover breakout line on the same vertical path a couple of inches above and below the slit. This slit has since grown to 3 and yesterday a similar slit has now appeared on the right side of the crashpad in line with the right edge of the airbag. The vehicle had 35,000 miles at the time of occurrence but was past the 36 month warranty window. …”
NHTSA complaint #10091317, filed 2004-09, 35,000 miles“My molding and striping around all four of my doors have shrunk. I took it in once with a complaint of noice around the windows. I was thinking there was a problem with my window. They replaced the molding around the drivers door and said that was all they could do. I did not noticed that all my doors were doing the samething until three months after my warrenty was up and my extended warrenty didn't cover it. My miles were still under 36,000 at the time. I have another friend that I work with that said she had the same thing happen to her 300M. …”
NHTSA complaint #10060805, filed 2004-03“When driving toward the sun, the glare of the reflection of the leather dashboard on the windshield makes it extremely difficult to see outside the vehicle, this reflection covers the entire windshield, the color plus the grain of the leather refelection on the windshiled distorts the consumers vision, consumer was informed that numerous dahsboards have been replaced on other vehicles with no success.”
NHTSA complaint #567722, filed 2002-09“2000 Chrysler 300M with 45,000 miles. The dashboard has cracked about 4 inches long right at the passenger airbag. I cannot see the exact location of the airbag, but would assume it is at the top left corner of the airbag.”
