“Engine stalled twice while driving on the freeway. Regular and routine maintenance was provided in accord with the manufactures guidelines, yet the engine stalled on the freeway and will not start. I was told the engine needed to be replaced.”
NHTSA complaint #10058856, filed 2004-02, 80,000 miles“I purchased a 1994 Chrysler New Yorker in 1998. Every summer the air conditioning has failed. A Chrysler technician informed me that there is a problem with the air conditioning component in the 1994 New Yorker. I contacted Chrysler corp. To inquire if there is indeed a problem, and if other owners had the same problem their answer was no. After visiting the complaint section of this site, I see that is not the case. Do I have any recourse available to me?”
NHTSA complaint #10003049, filed 2003-01“Cruise control intermittently goes on by itself, engine stalls intermittently, at low speed. Cruise control went on and could not slow car down, then it stalled, losing steering controls. Stopped in the middle of the road across two lanes. Have brought car to mechanic and dealer and they could not find anything. Please look into this, it is extremely dangerous for my family, and we are getting no answers from anyone.”
NHTSA complaint #714103, filed 1999-10“I will never buy another Chrysler product again. Our car is in the shop more than it is on the road. And now there is a rattling noise when we start our vehicle. We have been told the engine is going. We have had our vehicle towed at least 4 times now. We have only had this vehicle for 1 year now. We have put 2,000 - 3,000 into this vehicle already and to top it off we purchased the drive train warranty which covered us for about 3 months. Purchase price plus warranty plus all the problems = $13,300.”
NHTSA complaint #733486, filed 2000-10“This is interrogative. My wife joined an accident in progress (no. 3 of 3 vehicles) becasue she couldn't stop in time. She was at 35 MPH steady, said she had applied full braking. The nyer was pitched down when it contacted the bumper of a s-10 pickup truck. We have sheet metal damage to the hood, left fender and everything above the bumper line, including AC coil, radiator, fan, etc. She was uninjured. Neither air bag deployed. The system check at engine start has always been exactly as described in the operator's handbook. My question is, shouldn't the airbags have deployed? …”
