“On my 2006 Dodge Caravan, the side power door locks do not work. I have spoken to other owners and they have had the same problem. The problem happens after the warranty period expires. The locks operate occasionally..sometimes they would work, and sometimes not. I realized it wasn't working when my child tried to open the door before we left the driveway, and all the doors should have been locked. This is a potential serious safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10257969, filed 2009-02, 45,000 miles

“Back sliding passenger door will not lock or unlock using powerlocks, you have to manually lock and unlock the door. This is a major problem with kids in the van and I would like to know how to get this fixed with Dodge footing the bill as it is a safety issue. Any information would be appreciated.”

NHTSA complaint #10251932, filed 2008-12, 73,000 miles

“The passenger side automatic door lock no longer works. The remote key and the automatic lock on the door will not lock or unlock the passenger sliding door.”

NHTSA complaint #10318563, filed 2010-03, 81,200 miles

“My wife was at the gas station she opened the drivers side automatic sliding door to get her purse out and after she retrieved her purse she pushed the close button on the door, and then opened the gas filler door and removed the gas cap as the sliding door was closing. The door stopped and automatically reopened, crashing into the gas filler door and crushing the gas cap along the side of the van , leaving it dented. I was able to replicate the issue. Luckily , her hand didn't get crushed, and she didn't have gas pumping yet.”

NHTSA complaint #10190118, filed 2007-05

“'I have a 2006 grand Caravan sxt. I have previously owned 2 grand caravans and 1 town and country. The rear right side door lock does not go up or down unless I manually pull it up or down.. The door does 'click' when I hit the key remote or overhead button, but the door will not open. If I pull the door the knob up manually, the key remote or overhead will allow the door to open and close. I went on the internet and the repair forum indicated that hundreds of the same situation existed with the grand Caravan. No recall existed, but this certainly should have been with this safety malfunction. …”
