2017 Dodge Grand Caravan Vehicle speed control Problems

“The transmission stopped shifting into gear (reverse and drive). The van stopped in the middle of the highway, directly in traffic. The vehicle was in drive when t stopped completely. The vehicle was screaming loudly and would not shift into gear at all. My life was in immediate danger! The electrical is turning on and off without assistance including while driving. This has happened several times prior. The Dodge dealer was notified in person of my issues and concerns. Nothing was done to ensure the safety of the vehicle at any time. The vehicle has been out of service for 30 days.”

“While driving on the highway in a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan with cruise control engaged at the posted speed of 70mph, the cruise failed to disengage with the depression of the brake, or by trying to turn the cruise off. The accelerator was stuck; and the floor mat was checked to see if this was jamming the system. It was not. Repeated depression of brake pedal failed to disengage cruise control. Repeated attempts to shut off cruise control failed. Finally I prayed, and the cruise disengaged. Used the cruise again the next day at lower speed of 45 MPH on back highway and noticed some sticking. …”

“I was sitting in traffic waiting for the red light to turn green. My right foot slipped off the brake and the van immediately lunged forward. I stepped on the brake asap, but the car sitting in front of me was hit in the rear. I have no idea why this rental vehicle lunged forward quickly for no reason. I researched other incidents with this same make and model vehicle and found lots of incidents that were very similar. Some surged in speed for no reason and some lunged forward for no reason; as well as many other scenario's that were similar. …”

“The van slid backwards then accelerated at a higher speed going from a stop to slowly with a light tap on the gas pedal. The speed does not go higher than 15mph with the rmp too high when this occurs. It jerks back when trying to drive it forward. Has not left the dealership parking lot. Drove out 3mile out with this occuring. 3 attempts to fix. Still not driving well and can't leave the dealership lot.”

There was smoke detected coming from the brakes. The contact shifted into neutral. The contact stated that the tachometer display revved up and the vehicle was idling; then revved up to 4000 RPM and then back to idle. …”
