“Driver's side seat belt was completely restrained, but too much. The seat belt tightened, cutting into the driver; there was no play in belt. Prior to the accident, the consumer complained about the adjusting mounts for the drivers seat belt. The adjusting mount failed to lock into place when the consumer was rear ended. The consumer suffered serious injuries..”

NHTSA complaint #10044270, filed 2005-09, 90,000 miles

“The seatbelt would not extract from the retractor. The belt would only come out about a foot and then would lock up. It could not be used to hold a person in the seat as required by law. This has happend in the past, but later it would work. This time I tried several times to pull the seatbelt out but it would not come. Because we had the room we had the person sit on the other side of the seat.”
