NHTSA complaint #10979716, filed 2017-04, 166,000 miles

“The headlight housing assemblies have the coating peeling, and the lense has a haze. This is pronounced thruout every 1999 and 2000 Intrepid I have inspected. This reduces the visibility greatly I have almost hit a pedestrian when turning a corner due to reduced output of the lights. The lenses are no longer a clear plastic, but are a white fog. The headlights are experiencing delamination.”

NHTSA complaint #10173784, filed 2006-11, 27,000 miles

“The headlights on my 1999 Dodge Intrepid are cloudy and can ot be cleaned. It's like they have been sandblasted by the sand and rock on the roads. This is a problem with visibility at night and in the rain. In additional it has failed the va state inspection. Each headlight cost $350.00 in total $700.00 we have to pay to correct the problem that is due to no fault of the owner of the vehile. There should be a recall issue by Dodge to replace the headlight with glass instead of plastic again for the same problem to happen.”

NHTSA complaint #10082771, filed 2004-07, 72,000 miles

“The headlights illumination became dim because of discoloration in the headlights lenses. This reduced consumer's visibility of the road. Although the cause of the lens discoloration was yet to be determined dealership indicated that this was a common problem with these vehicles.”
