“When driving down the road at night, the vehicle loses all function and power. When this occurs I have no power steering, lights, brakes, nothing. It flickers on and off like that multiple times. It took me 1 1/2 hours to drive home, which should have taken only half hour. This is a serious safety issue. I can't drive the vehicle now in fear that I will be in an accident. This appears to be an ongoing issue with Dodge vehicles. I can't drive my van in fear it will end up killing myself, my family, or some innocent person on the roadway. This needs to be addressed. …”
NHTSA complaint #11363860, filed 2020-10, 134,865 miles“My 2001 Dodge Intrepid electrical system caused the vehicle to catch on fire. There was no accident. Aaa insurance company's origin's inspector said it was due to faulty wiring. I never had any electrical type work done to the car. The car was totaled. Luckily, my son and I were able to get out of the car in time.”
NHTSA complaint #10132272, filed 2005-08, 75,400 miles“Headlights come on and go out by themselves when car is turned off. Headlamp switch acts as if it is wired backwards - when car is started and headlamp switch is in the off position, the headlights come on, and when the headlamp switch is turned to the on position, the headlights go off. Going in for repair 8/9/06.”
NHTSA complaint #10164908, filed 2006-08, 89,000 miles“When the headlights are turned on they will flicker along with the interior and dash board lights. Dealer has examined the vehicle 9 times for this particular problem, but has not resolved the problem. The vehicle would lose power while sitting at a red light with the brakes applied, the RPM's had gone up and the engine revved.”
NHTSA complaint #10080119, filed 2004-08, 66,000 miles“Consumer was unable to start the vehicle intermittently. Vehicle had to be towed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined.”
