Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My vehicle will randomly lock up and when I start it and try to move it into drive or reverse from park. And when I try to turn off my vehicle so that I can restart it my vehicle won't evem attempt to turn over or start but my electrical will still work just fine”

NHTSA complaint #11202768, filed 2019-04, 134,000 miles

“Lower control arm ripped off under cradle & ripped passenger side drive shaft off the transmission - the wheel fell off the car. It appears under cradle rusted from inside. I shudder at the thought of that happening when my wife was on the freeway, instead of coming to a stop. This vehicle was always kept in the garage.”

NHTSA complaint #10512534, filed 2013-05, 86,036 miles

“I put the vehicle in reverse to back up and when I put vehicle back in drive it died/stalled. This has repeatedly happened along with dying at stop signs, red lights and multiple times at slow speeds. Also the vehicle has repeatedly stumbled at various speeds up to 65 MPH.”

NHTSA complaint #10593908, filed 2014-05, 184,000 miles

“Upon pressing the brake, at any speed, the vehicle completely shuts off. This has caused me to be nearly rear-ended on several occasions. It happens without notice, and is becoming more consistent. I took it to the dealership, as there were recalls on my vehicle, but they said while that is a problem for my make and model, it was in fact not one of the recalls to be performed. I had two recalls performed, neither of which helped this problem at all. …”

NHTSA complaint #10485197, filed 2012-11, 170,000 miles

“Transmission failure, apparently a recurring problem with the Ford 2001-2004 Escape SUV. This one is a 2002 and did not leave me stranded, I managed to get it to the dealership. Others (hundreds++) on the web were stranded on major highways.”

NHTSA complaint #10222235, filed 2008-03, 87,000 miles
